In the 1940s, during World War II, soldiers going to war had a custom of giving accessories to their families and lovers back home.
These were called sweetheart jewelry, and many featured designs of the soldiers' respective military branches, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, and brooches.
This is a very rare spring-style bracelet.
It features a USN anchor emblem and a padlock-style heart charm.
There is a name inscribed on the back of the heart.
It appears to have been given to a woman named Betty.
There is no material marking.
There is some clouding and minor scratches consistent with age, but no significant damage other than age-related wear.
Full circumference: approximately 18.5cm
The spring opens, so it is effectively a free size.
