Vintage Cold Iron Chisel (B)
I love old tools. The feeling of nostalgia held in my hands from craftsmen working years on so many projects. This Vintage Cold Iron Chisel is 6 1/8 long and around 5/8 wide stem. The owner would use a heavy hammer to strike the top. The head has mushroomed beautifully!Cold chisels were primarily used in metalworking and blacksmithing to cut, shape, and remove metal that is softer than the chisel's cutting edge. Decorative patterns were cut in iron in this way. Other purposes include cutting through bolts, screws, rivets, and other fasteners, or chipping and channeling in concrete, and breaking bricks, etc.How perfect for placing on a viewing shelf for historical decor... or clean it up if wanting to continue its history for years to come.I personally chose to leave the age on it to show the value of a bygone era.Click on the pics to zoom in and peruse.
